Phil Guarno, dutiful custodian of Fenicci's, hails
originally from
The service industry called to Phil early in his life and he graduated from the
Rochester Institute of Technology in 1985 with a bachelor's of science degree
in Hotel Restaurant Administration, followed later with an MBA from RIT. He
spent 20 years learning the ins and outs of the hotel life with Marriott.
Phil stumbled upon Fenicci's during his first stay in Hershey and came to know
the owner, the business and the other customers well, often sending the
restaurant business from his hotel. Seeing its value as a historic site and a
"diamond in the rough" at the time, Phil always told the owner to
call him if he wanted to sell – and he did. Since then, Phil has been all
things for Fenicci's. He's played chef in the kitchen, concocted cocktails
behind the bar, waited on tables – not to mention marketing and overall
operations. Phil loves socializing with his guests, whether tourists or
regulars. "It's like welcoming them into my home," he says.
This spring, Phil's daughter turns 17 years old and starts driving. A childhood
cancer survivor, Phil and his family are strong supporters of Children's
Miracle Network and the Ronald McDonald House. He also cares for a saltwater
fish and Scarlet, a dog adopted from the Humane Society.
Phil's Favorite Treats:

the garden in Fenicci's backyard
